Colour theory for outfits — no art degree needed
You don't need to memorise a colour wheel. Just follow three simple rules: stick to one colour family for a monochrome look, pair complementary colours for contrast, or use neutrals as your base and add one pop of colour.
The easiest win? Monochrome. Pick one colour — beige, black, navy, olive — and wear it head to toe in different textures. It always looks expensive.
For contrast, the rule of thumb is warm with cool. A warm rust top with cool blue denim. A coral dress with turquoise earrings. The tension creates visual interest without trying too hard.
Neutrals plus one pop is foolproof. Think head-to-toe cream with a lime green bag. Or all black with a cherry red lip. Let one element do the talking.
